What to Expect

I want us both to be fully prepared to have the best session possible! Here are some tips and things to expect from a session with Michelle Kersey Photography

When to Schedule:
When you are 34-36 weeks along.  Your tummy should be nice and round by then.  And hopefully, you won’t be too uncomfortable to get into some fun poses!
Before the baby is due!  It would be great to have it scheduled 2-3 months before your due date, so there is one less thing for you to worry about as the big day approaches.  The session date, will be tentatively set as your due date.  After you deliver, we will schedule the exact date, but it should be within the first 12 DAYS of life.
A few months before the big day, or sooner.  Make sure to allow enough time to order any images or products you may want to use for announcements or for show, on your wedding day.
Soon enough to allow the time to get prints for the year book, graduation parties and announcements.
A months notice is usually adequate to allow for scheduling of the session.

Session Length:
All sessions last 1 to 2 hours except newborns which can last up to 4hrs to allow for feedings and cuddles.

I am strictly an on-location photographer . The session can take place at your home or at an outdoor location. We will discuss possible outdoor locations together, from urban to country, the options are limitless. Have a special place that means something to you? A park you went on your first date? The high school where you met? We can probably shoot there!
I am predominantly a natural light photographer.  So anytime there is daylight, we can do your photos! Whether it’s outside at a park or in your own home using light from a window.  If bad weather prevails, we will reschedule at a time convenient for you!

How to prepare for your session:
First of all, RELAX….this will be FUN!
Getting adequate rest is key, especially if little ones are involved. Also, being well hydrated is important!
Feel free to bring a snack with you, as we can always take a break if necessary!
If young children are involved, I do ask you try to refrain from using the word “no” and “say cheese”. Bribes are perfectly acceptable in my book and a natural smile will look the best! I will do my hardest to get those beautiful natural smiles out… and capture the many other expressions you love so dearly along the way.

-For newborn photography- I have a great checklist of how to get you, your baby and your home, ready for your session.  I will email this to you prior to the day of your scheduled session!
-For Family sessions – I have a questionnaire for me to get to know your family and kids better so I can customize your session to you.

After the session:
I will sit down and look over all of your images and will pick the best of the best to edit.  This is usually around 20-30 images.  Some will be done in black and white, some may not.  It totally depends on the image.  I use my best judgement when editing to what will look best converted.
I will put a sneak peek up on Facebook within a few days and within two weeks I’ll upload your images to a digital download site and e-mail you the link and more information. I will load the images into a private gallery for your viewing, sharing with family, and for ordering wall prints. For your convenience, I will also upload your images to an online print ordering site so you may order your small prints through a reputable consumer printing company that will give you the best quality prints.
Once your images are in your gallery, you will have 2 weeks for viewing and ordering wall prints.  This time is based on my need to be able to circulate all my client’s galleries.
Once your wall print and/or product order is placed and payment received, your prints will be ordered and then shipped to you within 1-2 weeks.  Time varies depending on prints and products ordered.
